Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Drive to Cebollapampa & Hike to Base Camp (4,650 m)
Depart from Huaraz early in the morning and drive (~2.5 hours) through the stunning Llanganuco Valley to the trailhead at Cebollapampa (3,900 m). Begin hiking, first through grassy trails and then on steeper moraine slopes, reaching Pisco Base Camp (4,650 m) in 3–4 hours. The afternoon is spent resting, hydrating, and preparing gear for the summit push. 🏕 Camp at Base Camp (4,650 m)
Day 2
Summit Day: Nevado Pisco (5,752 m)
Start early (~1:00–2:00 AM). Hike to the glacier, rope up, and begin ascending moderate snow and ice slopes. After 5–6 hours of climbing, reach the summit with one of the most stunning 360° views in the Andes. Descend carefully and return to Base Camp for a well-earned rest. 🧗 Climb time: 8–10 hours round trip. 🏕 Overnight at Base Camp.
Day 3
Return to Huaraz
After breakfast, hike back down to Cebollapampa (2–3 hours), where private transport will take you back to Huaraz. 🚐 Arrival in Huaraz by early afternoon.

Requirements & Preparation

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical fitness required
  • Ability to hike 6-8 hours on summit day
  • Comfortable carrying 8-10kg pack
  • Prior acclimatization to 4,000m+ recommended

Technical Skills

  • Basic glacier travel techniques
  • Use of crampons and ice axe
  • Roped team travel

Acclimatization

  • Minimum 3-5 days in Huaraz region
  • Acclimatization hikes strongly recommended
